Beschreibung
The strength of a bow is determined by its thickness, width and length, so the thicker one normally is the stronger one. Not so in the case of these two 70” yew bows. Here the thick Berta pulls 42 pounds at 30 inches – the delicate, thin asparagus, on the other hand, pulls 45 pounds at 30 inches. That’s how big the differences are within the same species! Both pieces from the look could be considered as prime yew, both came from the same place but both are totally different. Why does one grow super dense and hard and the other so soft and light? The dense yew is around 20% narrower and 12% thinner and still makes the stronger bow! Yew is just so misterious.
